I will use my experience as an example. The support order in my case, specifically states she (person receiving child support) is responsible for the first $250 of medical expenses not covered by my medical insurance. I am lucky enough to have really good medical insurance, so everything is usually covered 100%, except for the co-payment of $10.
Well I have been the one who always takes our son to the doctors for his checkups and when he is sick. To make a long story short, I tallied up $80 in one year of un-reimbursed medical expenses, medical expenses that she was supposed to cover.
Now let me pose this question, if I owed $80 to domestic relations in back due support, do you think they would sit back and do nothing. WRONG. But if I WAS OWED $80, do you think they was pursue recovering they money or temporally lowering my support payment in order to recover my un-reimbursed expenses? WRONG. They irony and bias is just incredible.
It took me over 8 phone calls and 4 certified letters, stating my case and using supporting documentation (receipts) to recover my $80 dollars. Incredible.
